Shae Gordon of Enfield has died in hospital after a disturbance in Lichfield Road, Bow, east London, just after midnight on Sunday.
It is believed that a number of people were caught up in the incident but not all were directly involved or armed with weapons.
An eighteen-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, while a second teenager remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Detectives carried out door to door inquiries. Officers were also examining CCTV while the investigation into the stabbing of the seventeen-year-old is continuing.
